Benefit’s It’s Potent! Eye Cream Review

Watch out…It’s Potent!
Benefit’s B Right Radiant Skin Intro Kit is simply fabulous. The brand has a whole range of sample-size gift sets but this one is excellent if you’re on a mission to find the right skincare routine for you. The €16 (Cara Pharmacy, Sligo) B Right Kit contains a sample size of their It’s Potent! Eye Cream and believe me, with this eye cream, a little goes a long way.
It’s Potent! is a treat for your skin. Benefit describes it as a brightening eye cream to fade dark circles; however, I just use it as a moisturiser. It’s never too early to start looking after your skin and protecting it from future fine lines. The light cream leaves the eye area feeling taut and the eyes fresh and wide-awake. The smell is faintly floral and sweet.
The cream sinks straight into your skin and is not at all greasy to the touch. My make-up sat perfectly on top and didn’t crease or appear oily after a couple of hours. I find it helps my make-up to last longer around the eye area.
The cream is as good as its name. If feels potent and luxurious on your skin. As an eye moisturiser, it could potentially be worth its full price of €35 to combat fine lines but honestly, I didn’t note any significant improvement in the appearance of my dark circles.
That said, this cream leaves my skin feeling perkier and smooth and my sample (3g) has lasted me for 4 months so I imagine there would be good mileage out of a 14.2g tub. I’d recommend buying a sample before splashing out though, just to make sure your skin loves it as much as mine does.

MAC Lady Danger Lipstick Review

As the name suggests, MAC’s Lady Danger is one controversial colour.

Orange?

Or red?

Or a bit of both?

A reliable red lipstick is something every girl needs. But MAC has so many famous reds: Ruby Woo, Chilli, Russian Red. Where to begin?
Lady Danger (€18-Brown Thomas) has to be one of the lesser-known shades but is gaining wild popularity this season. As for its close association with the colour orange, it’s certainly not as orange as MAC’s infamous M’Orange and recent Tangerine Dream nor is it anywhere near the orange undertones of the limited edition coral, Ablaze. However, it is definitely a step away from classic screen siren red.  This reddy-orange is perfect for my fair skin but would be especially striking on a darker skin tone as the colour would really pop.
I have a love/hate relationship with MAC’s matte range. It usually applies well but a lip liner with this colour is an investment buy. Do not rush application e.g. smearing it on as you run out the door! Blot well to avoid smudging.
The matte range can be quite drying, especially if your lips are already in less than moisturized condition. If they’re already quite chapped, this will probably make them worse. To counteract, apply a moisturizing balm beforehand, dabbing it lightly onto the lips. Avoid slick and greasy bases from any Vaseline-type jellies.
The best thing about the matte range is that the colour will last all day. If you love the colour, certainly go for it. Some women adore matte lipsticks, others think they’re a pain but for this colour, effort = worth it. Now, if they could only create the same colour in a different finish that would be something (amplified, please!). Still, based upon colour alone, I would buy this red/orange lippie again. After all, who doesn’t want to know more about a Lady Danger?

Cocoa Brown 1-Hour Tan by Marissa Carter Review

Cocoa Brown 1-Hour Tan Mousse-what every blogger has been raving about recently. It has to be one of the first long lasting tans within its price range, which varies between €7 and €8 nationwide, that actually works! Penneys are retailing it at just €7 but I purchased my can in Cara Pharmacy for €7.39. I was lucky to get the last one-it’s flying off the shelves everywhere.
Designed by Marissa Carter, a qualified beautician with her own Salon in Dublin, this really is the new wonder product revolutionising the self-tan market. The tan develops fully within 1 hour and continues to develop once washed off. Marissa recommends waiting up to three hours before rinsing but I’d say give it longer to have a darker glow. Marissa’s tan tips are really excellent; if you’ve time log onto her website before applying, www.cocoabrown.ie.
Exfoliating and moisturizing up to the day of your tan is important and if you do this you will certainly get beyond value for money with this product. It is streak-free but be especially careful after application to avoid contact with water for up to three hours after you apply your tan. Wait longer if possible. For €7, it certainly lasts a good five to seven days and fades consistently enough. To even out any difference just apply some wash off tan like Rimmel or Sally Hansen during the day to make it last longer in between applications.
The aerated mousse formula has a ‘pleasant Tahitian Gardenia scent’. This sweet floral smell is not overpowering and doesn’t turn into the ‘biscuit pong’ we are used to from many tans on the market. The tan shouldn’t rub off after allowing it to dry but I would still recommend avoiding any tightfitting or white clothing. Common sense applies people.
Apply using a mitt to protect your hands and nails and for good coverage over freckles and marks on the skin. This tan works well on many levels and for only €7, it’s a bargain for all it can do.
     Buy it and try it!
