As the name suggests, MAC’s Lady Danger is one controversial colour.
Orange?
Or
red?
Or
a bit of both?
A
reliable red lipstick is something every girl needs. But MAC has so many famous
reds: Ruby Woo, Chilli, Russian Red. Where to begin?
Lady
Danger (€18-Brown Thomas) has to be
one of the lesser-known shades but is gaining wild popularity this season. As
for its close association with the colour orange, it’s certainly not as orange
as MAC’s infamous M’Orange and recent Tangerine Dream nor is it anywhere near
the orange undertones of the limited edition coral, Ablaze. However, it is
definitely a step away from classic screen siren red. This reddy-orange
is perfect for my fair skin but
would be especially striking on a darker
skin tone as the colour would really pop.
I
have a love/hate relationship with MAC’s matte
range. It usually applies well but a lip liner with this colour is an
investment buy. Do not rush application e.g. smearing it on as you run out the
door! Blot well to avoid smudging.
The
matte range can be quite drying, especially if your lips are already in less
than moisturized condition. If they’re already quite chapped, this will
probably make them worse. To counteract,
apply a moisturizing balm beforehand, dabbing it lightly onto the lips.
Avoid slick and greasy bases from any Vaseline-type jellies.
The
best thing about the matte range is that the colour will last all day. If you love the colour, certainly go for it. Some
women adore matte lipsticks, others think they’re a pain but for this colour, effort = worth it. Now, if they could only
create the same colour in a different finish that would be something (amplified,
please!). Still, based upon colour alone, I would buy this red/orange lippie
again. After all, who doesn’t want to know more about a Lady Danger?
What’s your go-to red? MAC matte-yea or nay?
